podium:  rossi, lorenzo, edwards...3 different riders & styles, 2
different tyre brands:

http://brown-snout.com/motorrad/misc/yamaha_lemans_swingarms.jpg

edwards' rear axle looks to be in the middle (and the shortest of the
3), lorenzo looks to be the "longest" and rossi looks to be slightly
shorter than edwards (and the shortest of the 3)..

figure edwards can go shorter since he's the heaviest of the 3 and
wouldnt need as much mechanical advantage to keep the front wheel
down.  interesting that rossi's is the shortest setup while i figure
he's a good bit lighter than edwards.

anyways...thought it was mildly interesting.

Definitely, but you would expect differences across 3 different weight
riders and two tires.

I guess this is a good backup to Marks insistence that the Yamaha is
the best bike - any tire, and size rider . . . but oops, that average
podium weight just shot up . . .

And height/length and riding styles and preferences. What also is backed
up here is what Champ said about the need to get more weight on the rear
Bridgestone to make it work. Of course we don't know that all three
bikes are running identical swingarms, do we?

"Insistence"? Do you question that it is? But yes, it will likely drive
up the weight at the front, since the bike has been developed by Rossi
and then Edwards, and three of their four riders are relatively
average-sized people - flyweight Lorenzo can only do so much. At least
until Honda and Ducati straighten things out...

i actually mis-typed my initial post.  corrected, and assuming all
swingarms are the same:

lorenzo = longest, also the lightest (makes sense)
edwards = shortER (actually middle position), also the heaviest (makes
sense also).
rossi = shortEST, weight in between (this is out of sync, possible due
to tyres?)

anyhoo...

shortest = rossi,
