Over the last 5 years I drove a Goldwing and now have an 86 Venture. Both
were very comfortable with air suspension.
I previously had a sport bike (VX800 and a cruiser (Volusia) and found them
very uncomfortable because of the seat and the suspension stiffness.
This Summer, after my nephew's wedding, I want to rent a bike in Edmonton
and tour the Rockies and Glacier national park.
One place in Edmonton offers to rent a 2002 ST1100. Another in Calgary rents
Harleys.
Is the comfort on an ST1100 anywhere close to what I'm used to?
If not, what model Harley should I rent?
Thanks

I doubt the seat is as good as your used too. Its not bad but its a sport
touring seat not a touring seat. Still between the 3 the ST would be my
choice for the mountains. Unless you have a medical problem doubt you'd
notice it under those conditions. Droning on interstate would be different.
I've got a 98 I bought new. It still has the original seat. It's a popular
bike for the Iron Butt but they usually change the seat.

Thanks for your advice.
I really enjoyed my one and only sport bike, the Suz VX800. The reason I am
asking for advice on this is I found that sport bikes have a few things that
bothered me. One was that sitting forward with some of the weight on your
hands, my wrists and elbows got sore and my hands went to sleep. Once I was
used to it, I was ok. It did take some weight off the seat and is easier on
the back making up for the lack of a cushy suspension. My neck was craned up
to see ahead because of the forward leaning. This became tiresome as well.
Also, leaning forward means sitting on your privates which have to be
constantly pulled /lifted forward which is hard to do while driving with
gloves on.
Is the seating on an ST100 as aggressive (forward) as other sport bikes or
is your stance upright enough to lessen the above problems?
Tnx

The envisionment of this tells me that you have not used enough DuctTape.
Smiley's all around.
