Speed is not everything. I'm curious in what is the longest length of time
it took someone to ride from coast to coast. Please no lengthy stops to
visit friends and/or family. Just a slow ramble following your front tire.
Why do I want to know? Why not?

6 days for me. (back in '03, on an '03 FLHTI)
Five, from NJ to Flagstaff, then the last day from there to Carson City.
6 for the way back.
About 500+/- miles a day at "slightly" more then the posted speed
limits, :) Just from hotel to hotel.
7 days for the same basic trip from NJ to CC on a Yamaha RD-350 back in
1976. Slower speeds and less miles per day, and I had one "sick day"
where I was too sore to get up one day. :(

I had a Yamaha RD-350. Fast yes - comfy no. No way I would have struck out
cross country on mine.

I certainly wouldn't do it again, that's for sure.
But I was foolish and 17.

Well, not the longest time, but not very fast either:
I left Atlanta on a Sunday morning in June of 2003...Stopped over at my Dad's
in Atmore, Alabama for a night, then proceeded to Lake Charles, LA where I
camped, then the 3rd day took me to Garner State Park Texas where I camped.
The 4th day it was on across Hwy 90 to Van Horn, Texas for a night at the
Ramada. The 5th day I made it to Picachu Peak State Park, Arizona where I
camped for one night, and the 6th day I rode on across I-10 to Los Angeles
where I arrived at my daughter's house Friday afternoon about 3PM local time.
I'd say 6 days was a nice casual ride.
