My 1996 Ural with low miles has been rebuilt - new ignition, alternator,
all new rubber parts, etc.

Carbs are clean, but older style with horizontal choke lever.

It starts immediately when I roll it down a hill, but takes 15 - 30
cranks when it is stationary.

I have been told by the man who rebuilt it, to choke it when it is cold,
but also by an experienced Ukranian, not to choke it, but just to turn
the motor over a few times before kicking.

So far I have found no good system when the motor is cold.

When it is warm, it starts on one or two kicks.

1. Can anyone suggest a good proceedure for a cold motor at 50 degrees?

2. How about for a motor that has been standing for a half hour after
running?

3. Also, the sideways standing position is hard on my right knee. Can
one adapt the kick lever so one can stand astride the bike and kick with
the left foot?

Thanks in advance for your help.
