I would like to ride from Texas to California in June. I want to camp on the
way. Anybody reading this group to offer suggestions?

I have been doing a little research for a big trip next year going across
country and back. What I have found is either camping in National Forests,
which seems to be free in the undeveloped areas, or staying at hostels. I
have found a couple websites that have some info on hostels that are fairly
cheap.
www.bikerhostels.com is one of them.
www.hostelhandbook.com is the other.

You can also search under the topic of vagabond travel with some other
recommedations, like staying in graveyards and other eccentric ideas.

Having done the right to left coast and back a few times myself, I
highly suggest that when you start to get tired... find the cheapest
Hotel in the area, and park it!

Packing a tent and putting it up, is just silly.
Finding a "Roadway Inn" or a "Ramada Inn "Limited" for only 30 bucks?
That's superb!
TV, hot shower, bed. Woo hoo!

They might be a bit more pricy now. :(

If you are considerting staying in the National Forests, most charge a fee
$20 and during June, you might need reservations. Also, in the National
Forests you need to purchase a "pass."
