Could some one point me in the right direction to finding a wiring
diagram for a 61 Bonneville 650cc?

All the wiring is much the same for that era just be certain you have
the correct electrical arrangement on your bike as per the drawings.
eg regulator or zenor diode for example.
The best thing I have found to do is to grab the wiring at the front
and the back of the bike an rip it out and produce your own wiring
loom with less joins and it can be stream lined.
Use modern electronic rectifiers and electronic ignition. while some
like to have 100% original i Like to get on and ride not get stuck
half way though the ride.
You can still make it look original but use a lot lot lot less wiring
and joins. I also make a special earth loom from the separate sections
of the bike frame and components and while not necessary certainly
reduces problem over time.
