I just picked up a '59 Thunderbird last weekend, it needs a complete
rebuild. Looking to build this one as close to stock as I can, with a
few upgrades for reliability. It has the old "slick shift" transmission
that disengages the clutch when you shift gears. That'll take some
getting used to.

This should be fun...

lucky dawg, it's about as easy a rebuild as it gets.
i like pre unit twins, wish i hadn't let greed talk me out of my 58 a10.
it was dead stock except for black paint. didn't like the factoey colors for
that year, though i still have the hutchinson paints.
keep us updated with progress, ok? take it slow so you don't burn out and
quit. happens about 75% of the time and gives me spare cash turning them
over....

I don't get burned out working on my bikes. They help me keep my sanity.
Last count, I have 10? bikes in various stages, from complete running to
incomplete baskets.
I'll add more photos as I build it. I'll need to track down some of the
missing parts. The lady I got it from might have some, if so, I'll be
able to get them from her. Gotta sort 30+ years accumulation to find
'em. Gotta love the old shops that have been around since the '70's.
