Why did I buy another? I bought a new T140 in 1977, nowt but trouble until I
replaced the Lucas Rita ignition with points.
I bought a new one a blake SE in 2005 8.5k riding done in 4 years due to
problems that started a few miles after the warrentee ran out....
3 new ignition systems 2 coils 3 pickups now for a new igniter unit..... to
much money spent on bits..
I lerve Bonneville's,,, but they don't like me!

Have you spoken directly to Triumph US about this?
I assume you're in the States.

nope I'm in the UK, I keep threatening to trailer it to the factory in
Hinckley, and sit outside with a big placard with my list of woe's. it's
terrible after sales back up.The local dealer lost the Triumph franchise and
is a Kawasaki dealer now.
Moan moan moan.
Now there's even a postage strike, so my bits are delayed.
I think I'll book a factory tour and confront the Triumph team directly.
It's a lovely looking bike, and people keep stopping me to tell me so, as I
get to push it home quite regular, the locals all get a good look! Being
British and it's sunny today, just having a moan.
I wanted reliable transport, not another hobby bike...
Must have been made on a Friday afternoon the model I got.

Damn shame. There are definitely some electronic issues with your bike in
particular. Are you a member of the Triumphrat.net forum? You should join if
not. There are a lot of fellow Bonneville riders there with plenty of help and
advice.

Cheers Clay, I have joined the forum, and sent off the igniter pack for
testing to this chap. http://www.TriumphTwinPower.com
He seems to know his stuff on the Gill igniter. I can't work out why a
defective igniter would keep wearing the other components out though? oh
well that's another avenue looked at. if its the igniter pack I will dig
deep and get a replacement. I keep telling the beast behave or I'll trade
you for a Honda.... Thing is when I get him working, I don't want to part
with him, then he breaks and I'm stuck with a broken worthless trade in.
Worse than a grumpy wife. Last chance saloon this time I think..... AGAIN!
