I heard the strangest story the other day. I was told about an old
Triumph twin that had be rebuilt with one domed piston and one flat
top piston. The former owner claimed that the bike was exceptionally
fast.
What do you think?

I think the engine "builder" was an idiot. You'd have lower compression
with the flat top, due to the combustion chamber shape and the valves.
Chances are the pistons didn't weight the same either. My thoughts are
it'd be an unbalanced engine that'd shake more than a Triumph normally
does. I'd say he was mistaking more vibration for more power.

yeah, you could do it, but why?
only thing i did with me 69 tr6r was switch the jug and pistons to make a 750.
it's really cheap bang-for-the-buck and i like the extra power on the highway.
the sweet spot for good cruise happens at 75mph instead of 70. smooth, quiet,
no shakes and i can see in the rear views. cost was less than half a
yard....i'm happy.
