I posted the following on the uk classic bikes newsgroup as a long shot but
have had no response yet, so I'm posting it as an even longer shot here!

Thus:

For my sins I have a couple of Hinckley Bonnevilles - one 790cc Bonneville
'Ordinaire' and one 865cc 'T100' and have pepped 'em both up a bit with a
number of Norman Hyde aftermarket upgrades - 'AI' removal, bellmouths, jets
and lovely, fruity exhausts*. I consider the T100 a 'done deal' and am happy
with it, but the only thing left to do would be to have the 790cc Bonnie
uprated to 902cc with a' big bore' kit (and larger front sprocket). The
'completist' in me wants it, the common sense in me (and wallet) says 'don't
do it' - it runs lovely as it is and these 'fake classics' are not all about
top end!

The question, quite simply, is: Does anybody have a similarly modded modern
Bonnie (or know someone with one) and, if so, is it really worthwhile or is
all best left well alone?

TIA,

BBBB

Bx4,

Have you tried the triumphrat.net forum?
If it's been done, it's been posted there.

Rgds,
John

Hi John, thanks for the response - I checked back here a few times and was
getting that eerie 'post apocalyptic' feeling....

Your suggestion is a good one but I'm not a fan of forums usually, there
seems to be far too much moderation and I'm 'old school' - biking without
the F-word cropping up from time to time ain't natural!

I have actually blundered around the Triumph RAT forum a couple of times
without success (is it me or are these forums trickier than the Tokyo
Underground system to navigate?) - anyway, from what I've seen so far, it
seems mostly posts from people who are spending a fortune clamping *bling*
to their machines...??

(I'm going the other way - I've taken a rack, pannier frames and grab rail
*off* my bikes!!)

My biggest concern is the possibility of disturbing a very *together* little
bike for possibly/probably little extra gain and regretting it! I guess I
was hoping to hear from someone who had had it done and could recommend it
completely without reservation!

Long shot, like I said - thanks anyway..!!
