Well according to what you just told me there is a good chance the
stock brake pads are crap. (or there were 2 previous owners that drove
around with their foot on the brakes!)

Put over 300km on the bike this weekend, I must say I really like this
machine! Lots of power for an 800cc, handles great and looks awesome!
I can get 275km on 13L of gas, not bad at all. Will be adding a
windshield and backrest over the winter.

Cheers!

antifreeze if it's water cooled. have it tested if you don't have a squeezy
bulb tester. tires goof? battery fresh and charged? monkey behind the bars
know how to ride wet and frozen roads?
the bike will be fine if the battery is good and cool sys prepared. basically
same concerns as for a car. make sure you have thinner, winter oil.
VERY IMPORTANT! make sure the monkey has REALLY warm or electric gloves. cold
hands can kill. keep the rest warm, too. i have email bodies in russia who
ride when it's -30f and think it's the balls. they all practice riding on
shit, rain, and snow.
if you are sufficently insane to cold ride, have fun, be careful!

Should be fine. I ride through winter all the time. Of course it's a
bit warmer in general here in New Mexico, but I've ridden in weather
down to 0 F. Just make sure you keep the battery charged and give it
time to warm up.

I only had trouble with my Sprint not wanting to shift first to second
until she was warmed up. The new Speed Triple doesn't like to start the
first push of the starter (but always the second); just their particular
quirks.
