on my 70 bonneville if i don't ride it for a week or so, the clutch
does not release, and i have to kick it with clutch lever in to free
it. do plates need cleaning or adjustment that this happens? help
appreciated. ed.

1979 Owners manual, page 13...
"Pull in the clutch lever and operate the starter pedal several times to
free the clutch."
Happens all the time.

A couple of simple choices...
Ride more often or kick it over with the clutch pulled in...
