Anyone have one of previous years? I am thinking about getting one and
getting rid of my venerable 82 XJ 550 Maxim but I have questions: How is the
V star on the interstate( 70-75 MPH),Have enough ponies? How does it handle
with those fat 16 inchers at both ends?, How does it compare to the Honda
Shadow 750 aero, Suzuki boulevard 800 and Kawi Vulcan 800 also HD Sport 883s
I actually would prefer a larger bike but finances dictate otherwise for
now. Thanks in advance for your help

Do yourself a favour and get the 1100.

I have a 2002, and am quite content with it. Cruising at 75/80 mph is not a
problem. I went over Monarch Pass in Colorado in 5th gear all the way.
Riding with bigger bikes isn't a problem. In point of fact, if they're not
paying attention and let me get the jump on them they have to really pour on
the coal to catch up. There's no question that they CAN catch up, but
..........
The bike is quite peppy up to 80/85 where it starts to level out. Hitting
100 takes a while. But this old poop doesn't wanna go that fast. grin
cheers
