Can anyone tell me where to get a replacemente front brake master
cylinder? It is for a 1982 Virago XV-920J
I am having a very difficult time finding one.
This bike was bought new in 1986 and I bought it from the original owner
(who said that this bike that had been in storage for 14 years0, for
$200 with 3600 miles on it, but when I began prepping it to run it, I
found that the brake fluid had turned into paste, and that the brake
master cylinder was damaged beyond repair.
I replaced all oils and filters, pressurized the suspension, oiled the
engine cylinders pretty well, rotated the engine by hand to lubricate
it, cleaned the carbs (old gas had turned into gunk and floats were
stuck to their bowls), replaced the battery and it started on the first
try. Runs great, but no front brake :(
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you're up to it, you can get a master-cylinder rebuild kit from
www.partsnmore.com
Here's a link to the XV series:
https://www.partsnmore.com/cat_index.php?model=xv&category=chassis
Scroll down to the brake rebuild kits, and choose the one that works for
your bike.
Otherwise, you could probably choose one of several aftermarket
replacements - just size it correctly for whether you have single or dual
calipers.
G'Luck!
