My 1983 Seca does not start when cold. I have to give a shot of starting
fluid every time or it will not fire. Once the bike has been started for
the day, it will start right up without any starter fluid. Even with the
cold start problem the bike runs great. What could the problem be? I have
installed new plugs and a new battery.

clean the jets, check for air leaks and smile.

The jets for the cold start system are very small, and at the bottom of the
fuel bowl, where lots of dirt collects. A good cleaning or Seafoam treatment
will solve your problem.
