I also have a XV750 1993. I found this website which carries most (if
not all OEM parts) for my Yamaha -

They carry only OEM parts and a very wide selection. In all
probability, you may have blown the diode of the alternator and
obviously the windings too. You need to replace it. The above website
helps you pick out exactly what you need and it evens gives you an
exploded schematic view of the bike's parts. Check it out.
