Hi,

Last year I had the VStar 650 Silverado. What a great bike. I was
trying to get a new 2003 Roadstar from the dealer but his terms were
tough. No trade-in and I really wanted the bike. He sold it before I
could sell mine. RATS! So then I was loking at a 2004 Roadstar
Silverado that he had but it was purple, which is fine if your a
purple fan but I'm not. I really wanted to stick with Yamaha and this
dealer as they took care of me pretty well.

I stopped by the Honda store and he had a 2004 1300 VTX in Deep Pearl
Blue. I snapped it right up. He gave me $300 less than what I owed on
my 2004 Yamaha in trade.

The VTX is a nice bike and I love it. I wish there was alot less
plastic on it but it moves like a bat outta hell and sounds much
better than my 650.

Thanks for your friendship and encouragements. This is a good group
and Yamaha makes a great bike. Really wanted that Roadstar

But wouldn't give a trade-in or deal with you.

So, you took a net loss.

So, you took a net loss and got less than what you wanted. One question:
why?

Why would you expect anyone to lose money for you? Someone can treat
you well and NOT give you $$ At least in my world.

That's what I wrote.

I didn't get the bike I wanted initially. No. Do you think everyone
should get something just cause they want it?  But I wouldn't have
bought the Honda if I didn't want it. I didn't buy it to spite myself.

I don't know why you are so fixated on money. It's to bad you are. I
think money is swell but glad to say it doesn't rule my life as it
appears that it does yours. Perhaps you are one of those poor
unfortunate minimum wage earners. In which case I understand.

So following your line.....

Keep what I had, don't try something new if it's going to cost me
$300.

Pretty Sad.

Reply if you must but I'm not defending myself for you.

So, why should you lose money if you can't get what you want? I can
understand paying more for something my heart desires, but I'm baffled by
why someone would pay more for something they didn't want in the first
place.

If I'm missing something here, then please enlighten me.

Sounds like it, though. You didn't get the bike you wanted and overpaid for
one you didn't.

Well, I'm not a rich man's son who doesn't understand the value of a
dollar. Not saying you are, but for most of us, we balance what we want
with how much it costs. IMHO, you paid way too much for what you didn't
want. You probably don't care. If that means I care about fiscal
responsibilty and you don't, then you're way ahead of me, I suppose.
