Hi All,
I have a 2005 FJR, was a demo bike. I have noticed a kind of heavy
ratcheting type noise as I go up through the gears, first, second and third
starts at about 2500 to 3000 revs.
The technician where I bought the bike says it is a normal noise for an FJR.
Anyone else had similar or got any ideas?

TIA
Regards
Pete

I've got a 2003 with about 22K miles on it and I've never heard that noise.
I had one of the ticking engines that a dealer fixed by going through the
valve train and replacing at least one of the exhaust valves, but that was
the only bad noises it's ever made. Fun bike... :-)

I have a 2004 with about 3000 miles.  Only sound I here at that speed is air
going by my helmut.  Great bike.

Imagine that.......a technician WHERE you BOUGHT the bike says that is a
normal noise.......transmissions are not supposed to make ratcheting noises
as you upshift thru the gears..........go elsewhere and get a UNBIASED
diagnosis.
