I have a V Star 1100 Silverado.

I have a small issue . . . The helmet lock is under the saddle bag so it
makes it use - well useless.

So, I bought an add on one and now I'm trying to find a place to install
it and was wondering others thoughts.

I was thinking at the base of the handle bars (Right side) the only
problem is that I can't screw it in totally. So I was thinking higher up
like right after the first bend.

I was looking at the frame but I'm not seeing anything easily assessable.

Anyway, I'm looking for thoughts since it has security screws. I can
screw it on just not off. So I want to make sure I don't place it some
place and find out that I'm going to interfere with something down the
road. Or just how others have dealt with this issue.

Thanks,

TC

Ummmm, does your mommy let you go to the hardware store all by yourself?

You could take the "security screws" to the hardware department and ask the
nice man there to match the thread for you...

Then you could try installing the helmet lock in various positions until you
find one that's just right.

But...

Does your mommy let you play with screwdrivers and stuff?

Sure that would make since - why would I want to do something like that?

I figured I'd try to learn from others mistakes.

i just used a regular padlock with a long clasp to fit
around whatever convenient bar. i wrapped the clasp with
non-melting in the sun tape to prevent scratches.  i have 5
bikes so it floats around to whatever i ride.
