I just came back from a 1300 mile round trip with my XVS650 Star and it used
about 2 qts of oil and quite a bit of gear oil on the trip. I went from
Maine to central PA and then to Rochester NY mostly all highway 70-75 avg
speed.
Is this normal to see thuiis much consumption on a road trip of mostly
highway miles?

new or old bike?
my sr will eat oil on the hiway.

2005 XVS and the general concensus I'm hearing is that there's something not
kosher with it.

Hi,,Cant help with the oil,,but rt15from NY to Maryland is a great
ride,,have done it in 18-wheeler's,, be safe R

No thats not normal. I ride a v-star 650 and we just rode over 1000
miles plus and mine didnt use any oil and we were riding thru mountains
and twisties. We were pulling some serious hills and rode 600 miles
plus of highway at 70-90 mph. If I were you, I would have it looked at
by someone that knows something about it.
