About:
Many years ago I bought my first motorbike. As I recall it was called
a Yamaha "Landscout".
Searches on the web found only one reference - and that was to a
woollen seat cover made to fit this type of bike!
Presumably "Landscout" was not the correct name...
So I searched through a lot of pictures of "Yamaha" motorbikes on the
web. I finally found a picture which looks to me very like the bike I
owned. However, even though the picture identifies the bike as an
"XDS" - searches under his model name do not bring up any useful
information either.

Hi,
This is definitely a 1967 Yamaha YDS 5 with a 246 cc twostroke engine. You
can identify this motorcycle because of the shape of the tank and the shape
of the side shields. I found it in a German oldtimer catalogue (Motorrad
Oldtimer Katalog, by Thomas Trapp). Here in Europe they are valued between ?
600,= and ? 1750,= depending on the condition of the motorcycle.

Thanks! This is definitely the same bike in the image I posted.
But it was certainly not the first bike I had. That bike was either
50cc or 80cc, red (if that helps?) and a single cylinder. It would
have been from the late 50s or from the 60s I think, but might have
even been early 70s.
I'll have to get Googling for images again.
