Considering the purchase of one of these two bikes. I have a couple of
concerns that I hope someone can address.
The Stratoliner is air cooked. Does it tend to over heat in traffic?
Does it throw a lot of heat on the riders? I currently ride a Honda VTXC
1800 and although it does not overheat, it does cook the rider on moderately
hot days. As it is water cooled, I am leery of a large air cooled bike.
The Royal Star has a much smaller engine than both the Stratoliner and
my current bike. How is its performance compared to the Stratoliner?
Specifically zero to sixty. I hesitate to move to a smaller bike. I am
spoiled by the power of my current ride.
Any other feed back on these two bikes?

the narrow lines of the seating area on the Royal Star are going to allow
you to feel the heat just like you other bike. While the engine is "smaller"
it is a relative thing. it is still a big displacement bike. Looking at
review articles on these bike the performance is very close. Driving style
and familiarity with the power curves as you get used to them will actually
allow you to better the times of the "professionals" who review the bikes.
As in all bike purchases find the one that make you "fell" the most
comfortable and in control. My cousin who I ride with regularly is about 5'9
, I'm 6' even and I out way him by 100 lbs. his Suzuki fells small and
cramped to me ,my Yamaha feels huge to him, but when we measured the
difference in seat height and handle bar position they are only about 3/4"
different.

I've had my Stratoliner for only 3 weeks and 1200 miles. I like
everything but the seat. It's not suitable for touring. After 50
miles I have to get off and rest by but. A new Mustang seat is on
order.
The heat is not a problem. I can feel it if there's a cross wind and
I'm not wearing my chaps, but it's just noticeable, not bad. I
normally I don't feel any heat.

Pulled the trigger and bought a Stratoliner on Wednesday. You're right about
the seat. Took a short ride to a rally on Saturday, about 70 miles each way.
After about 50 miles, I was squirming all over the seat looking for a
comfortable position. Did not seem to be so bad on Sunday, As long as it
keeps getting better I'll hold off on purchasing an after market seat.
