I decided to replace the gas tank on my /06 v-star 650 classic, due to
a bad dent. ... When the new tank arrived, I noticed that it was
lacking everything except the paint, and the decal trim. ....Is it
possible to remove my old V-star emblems (which are in good shape), or
do I have to purchase new ones? And.... If I can use the old ones, how
do I remove them from the old tank? ...And how do I affix them to the
new one? Thanks...Jon

you need to ask yamaha about replacements.
try the google or yahoo vstar groups for the rest. they know it all.

most of this stuff is held on with dbl stick tape. automotive tape
comes in a lot of thicknesses.
the backs of tank decorations are recessed so you won't know which one
will work till you get them off the old tank. keep a good reference to
where they go before you take them off.

Carefully slip a thin blade under them and gently pry them off?

The parts fiche doesn't show any mounting hardware, so they are
probably glued on with some sort of adhesive similar to super glue.
New emblems cost $24 each...

heat the tank up and saw back and forth under the emblem with fishing
line - they will come right off.
