Does anyone know where I can find a starter rebuild kit for a 1976 650 XS ?

Hallo HotRdd
Have a look at:
http://www.mikesxs.net/mikesxs-electrical.php?category_id=2.2 but I think
it's better to remove the starten engine because this will not be the last
time you have to repair it. Kickstarters allways work (with clean carbs,
right ignition timing and right valve clearance!!!!) Good luck and keep
those XS' rolling!!

I already looked here but it doesn't have the parts that I need. Right now
I'd still prefer to have the starter installed. At least until I get the
pipes and airfilters redone and then the bike tuned and jetted. Thanks for
the help.

I assume you've already inspected it and figured out what you need?
My XS750 starter wasn't working that well, and it just needed cleaning
and greasing.
Is the XS650 sarter unique, or maybe parts fom something else will
work?

I yanked the starter apart and the brushes are at the very end of there
life, plus the brush holder is shot and was starting to fuse itself to the
main body of the starter. The rest of the parts look OK. I'm not even sure
I'd be able to find out if the starter is the same as another starter, does
anyone know of a cross reference book?
