Just bought a virago 535 (1992) it came with throw over leather saddle
bags plus a tool roll which the owner bought brand new to spruce up his
bike to sell.
I'm not a lover of this kind of bag as they are not secure and prefer
hard luggage, does anyone know if there is hard luggage for the virago
as I have searched on google and cant find any.

You don't like the tool roll bag or the throw over saddle bags? If it
is the saddle bags, can you not lift off your seat, lay the saddle bags
under the seat/over the rear fender thus making the bags secure? I had
a 1987 Virago xv700 and just got rid of it about a week ago. I put my
bags under the seat/over the rear fender. No body messed with them. The
tool roll bag, was in front/below my windshield for years. I placed my
tools inside a heavy duty freezer zip lok bag and placed it inside the
tool bag. The look of leather, the waterproof of plastic. When you
eventually tear the plastic bag, replace it for pennies. I would place
my gear/clothes inside a garbage bag on long halls inside my saddle
bags. Kept them dry as I road across the USA.....Pennsylvania to
Wyoming, down through Colorado, Kansas, Texas, back home.......I have
never seen 'hard luggage' for any Virago....sorry, hope this gives you
some ideas for yourself.....

Thanks for your reply Brayan-
I have just been used to hard luggage which lock, if there is no other
option I will keep them and just take stuff out when I go in the
office.
Yep the straps are under the locking seat so no one can take them but
the bags themselves dont lock.
I have noticed that some bags are on a support and these were not - can
you answer are the supports unviversal as the bags seem to get very
near the tyres?
The bags are a make called anstons and cant find a matching support.
I do like the bike very much and it does turn heads - must admit with
my old bikes have been used to blending in with the crowd - maybe will
have to change - ha ha

I had a 2000 535 for five great years, during which time it became
quickly evident that aftermarket support for this bike was minimal.
It's doubtful that hard luggage for the XV535 is available. Saddle
bags didn't seem to be possible without relocating the rear turn
signals, which stuck out of the fender, directly above the axle. I'm
glad yours are working for you. Enjoy the bike!
