What is high milage for a vstar 1100 or a Roadstar? Is 25k miles too
high to risk?

Looking at buying a used bike. Was wondering how many miles are these
Yamaha Vstars & Roadstars supposed to get, with good upkeep of course.

Any response will be appreciated.

have a real mech look the bike over. pay him for it.
if the buyer balks at that, run away.
25k can be nothing if the bike was maintained and ridden
correctly.
again, get a GOOD mechanic to evlauate the bike.
and not the seller's mech...
got it?

I have a 2000 road star 1600 with just over 22k on the ticker and she runs
like a champ.  Just have it looked at and see what the mech says.  But it
should be just fine.  Bikes are built alot better than they used to be.

Thanks for the good advice. Been looking on ebay, but not being local to
where the bikes are from, it sound like it would be risky buying one
there! You agree?

Buying ANYTHING on eBay is as risky as you allow it to become.
A good friend bought a Roadstar. He contacted someone he knew online at
Delphiforums.com from the RoadstarRiders (there is also a V-Star forum) and
asked him to check it out for him. Ended up being a steal because there was
no local demand for a cruiser bike.
You could always ask for a mechanics report from the local shop but be
prepared to pay for it and contact the shop yourself to arrange payment and
make sure that you are getting the report shipped directly from them and not
the seller so he has no chance to alter it.

Good luck and ride long, hard and safe!!!
