I owned a '71 XS1B 650 (last of the kick start only models) from 1976 to
1986. I had it completely apart, modified the engine quite a bit and
generally rode the p*ss out of it for ten years. What do you want to know?

I just picked a 71 model that needs to be restored. The motor is seized up.
Any suggestions? Are these old 650 twins quick? Dave

I had a '82 XS650 Heritage Special for two years before moving up to a
bigger bike. After 27k miles, (19k in the first year), I can say that
bike was a heck of a lot of fun, but looking back I wouldn't call it
quick. Get it running and ride it!
