No offense if this is off topic.
Looking at getting some waverunners with my sister in laws family.
Naturally I want to keep the blue theme in my garage, but......... a good
deal is a good deal.
I have heard that you shouldn't buy snowmobiles older then 6 years old
because the technology is moving so fast. Is this the case with wave
runners? How old would you be willing to buy? She has found a lot from the
early 90's. Seems to old to me, but I really don't know. My sister in law
likes the prices though.
I think I should consider waverunners like I do dirt bikes. They get
abused. Maybe not on purpose all the time, but just from the very nature of
what they can do. The stresses applied to various parts eventually break it
down. I can rebuild a 2-stroke motor but I don't think I can fix a stressed
hull.
Just for kicks, does Yamaha make a decent waverunner? My sister in law has a
mind set on Sea-Do. I have a mind set for either a Yamaha or Honda. There
has to be a reason that they resell for so much more. Kinda like a Toyota.
Thanks for any info.
ps. finally scrubbed the last 1/2" of virgin rubber on the edges of my
tires. A good lean is getting easier and easier. Took 500 miles to get over
that far :-)

Definitely stay away from old waverunners/seadoos. They are toys just
like dirt bikes and get abused from what i've seen.
I've ridden a few Yamaha waverunners and they are great machines. Look
for a new one with good financing or a not too old used one.
